Coyote and the Bees is an original play by award-winning playwright Sandra Hughes performed with masks and puppets created
by award-winning theatrical designer Michael Hickey. The play focuses on the current environmental problems caused by the massive death and disappearance of honeybees. The performance explores the importance of honeybees to the environment and food crops as well as ways to help save the bees. Audience members are invited to dance a honeybee waggle dance, engage in the pollination of flowers and learn to sing about honeybee anatomy. Performances for family audiences and youth include the Annual Butterfly Festival at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Atlanta and the Emma Kelly Theatre at the Averitt Arts Center sponsored by the Georgia Coastal Organic Growers. The production was created to encourage knowledge about the natural world, our environment and its relationship to our everyday world
