Honeybees Are Important! utilizes masks, mime, puppetry, theatre and dance to explore the relationship between honeybees and humans. The production premiered at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta and is part of programming available through Gateway's The Bee Project . Established in 2006, The Bee Project supports public awareness about the world-wide plight of the honeybees. Performances through Young Audiences Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta and outreach touring to Metro-Atlanta schools received a National Classic Intiative Grant Award. Let's build a pollinator garden - With Master gardener, Jerilynn Bedingfield, Learn basic design skills and help design a garden to attract the beneficial insects that are important to our environment. Learn about good soil quality and compost as we prepare the soil to plant plants that attract the pollinators. Plant a variety of mostly native plants and learn along the way what attracts the pollinators to each specific plant.
